Yes. As JETs work in a variety of sensitive situations, such as at schools or in local government offices, we require a recent, cumulative background check. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Background checks completed before September 1, 2024 are not acceptable for the 2025 JET Program. Additionally, only candidates who have a criminal record or who are seeking Early Departure consideration should supply a background check at the time of their interview. All other candidates should wait until they receive their final acceptance notification and instructions
For hard copies, you should have your results mailed to your personal mailing address. When you receive the results, DO NOT OPEN THEM. If you are selected for an interview, the JET Program Coordinator from your interview location will provide you further information about how to submit the unopened results or electronic background checks.
The results are not due at the same time as the application. Background check results must be received by your interview location by the time of your interview, so please plan accordingly. Applicants are solely responsible for sending the original application form, fingerprints, and payment for the background check to the FBI or FBI-approved channeler.
